Case Study: Xperi: DTS In-Vehicle Lifestyle Campaign

We were just talking about that photoshoot and what an amazing job you did. I know stakeholders were THRILLED with how it turned out.
— Chris Green, Producer, Xperi

Xperi's DTS audio brand needed lifestyle photography that showed real families using in-car entertainment technology. The goal was a campaign that felt lived in, not a product spec sheet with people standing next to a dashboard.

The Challenge

Final UI graphics for the in-car displays were not locked before the shoot date. Every screen inside the Jeep and Mercedes had to be shot with placeholder graphics, then prepared for digital compositing later, with different screen dimensions per vehicle. A lead talent also dropped out the day before the shoot. A replacement had to be sourced, confirmed, and briefed within the hour to keep production on schedule.

Creative Direction

During the initial pre-production call, the planned visual direction for the background and story did not match the strength of the product. I proposed an alternative narrative built around the photography, one that gave the campaign a clearer story. Xperi's team preferred the new direction, and I took the lead on visual storytelling for the remainder of the project.

Our Approach

Pre-Production and Casting
Coordinated casting through Tiny Rabbit Productions, managed cast and crew logistics, and handled a same day talent swap without delaying the shoot date.

Multi-Vehicle Production Day
Shot on location at CinePacks Studios across two vehicle interiors, Jeep and Mercedes, working with a dedicated gaffer and hair and makeup team to keep pace across both setups in a single day.

Technical Screen Preparation
Every in-car display was shot with placeholder UI, then masked so Xperi's team could composite final UI graphics per vehicle screen size once those assets were finalized.

Post-Production and Delivery
Delivered uncompressed, unflattened files so Xperi's internal team had full control over final UI compositing. Managed multiple rounds of revisions as vehicle specific screen requirements were finalized.

Results

Delivered 25 final images across two vehicle interiors, fully prepared for internal UI compositing. A year after delivery, Xperi's producer reached out to confirm stakeholders were thrilled with the results and expressed interest in working together again.
